Welcome
This Family owned Estate is situated 80km south of Adelaide in the Currency Creek Wine Region adjacent to the Southern Ocean and Lake Alexandrina. The currency Creek Winery site, which was established in 1969, comprises of 30 acres which consists of vineyards, Natural bushland, winery complex and landscaped gardens.
The Current owners Graham Phillips and Jan Curzon purchased the property in early November 2009 and continue with the tradition and love of animals at the Currency Creek winery. Overlooking the Black Swamp in the paddock you will find a number of Alpacas. Racing by watch out for Max with his ball just one of the two friendly winery dogs.
The region is maritime in character and produces long dry summers, where the average rainfall is around 455mm. The average January temperature is 21°C, These conditions matched with the ancient coastal soils create the ideal conditions for prolonged ripening and consistent grape yields. Producing wines with outstanding varietal definition and lift.
Currency Creek Winery also produces a range of wine from our Calinga Estate Vineyards situated in the heart of the Fleureu Peninsula near the historic township of Willunga. Willunga was established in 1839 and used as a bullock rest point for travelers to Adelaide from the south. Situated adjacent to McLaren Vale and the deep harbor of Pt Willunga, this area has slight undulations flattening out towards the sea. The region has a Mediterranean climate suitable for growing premium quality wines. The soil here is grey clay with patches of red earth over limestone. The fruit grown here is consistently herbaceous and tannic from the cool air that sweeps through this area from the hills to the sea.
